According to MacRumors, Apple is expected not to change the screen size on the two iPhone 18 Pro models. iPhone 18 Pro will have a 6.3-inch screen, while iPhone 18 Pro Max continues to use a 6.9-inch screen, similar to the current generation iPhone 17 Pro.
However, the design of the area above the screen may have significant changes. Many sources say that Apple is researching to bring Face ID down to the screen, thereby reducing the size of Dynamic Island.
According to journalist Wayne Ma of The Information, Apple once aimed at a design that completely eliminated Dynamic Island, only keeping a needle hole camera in the top left corner of the screen. However, this information was refuted by some other sources.
Screen analyst Ross Young believes that Face ID under the screen may appear on the iPhone 18 Pro, but Dynamic Island is still maintained with a smaller size. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg also made a similar opinion, saying that Apple may reduce Dynamic Island instead of completely removing it.
A source on Weibo called Ice Universe said that Dynamic Island on iPhone 18 Pro may be about 35% narrower than iPhone 17 Pro. According to this source, the width of the cutout will be reduced from about 20.7 mm to about 13.5 mm.
More new information shows that Apple has considered two design options for the Dynamic Island sensor cluster. One option is to maintain the current structure, while the other option puts some Face ID input and output components below the screen to create a significantly smaller "Mini Dynamic Island".
