According to a leaked Fixed Focus Digital source on Weibo, the phenomenon of surface cracking on iPhone 17 Pro is said to have become a fairly common problem for a part of users.
This source said that some customers when contacting Apple were explained that this is a characteristic of aluminum alloy material and is considered normal wear, not under warranty.
More importantly, the source confirmed that the iPhone 18 Pro is said to still "continue to use the same design method" on the next generation.
Previously, the iPhone 17 Pro switched from a titanium frame to a monolithic aluminum anodized design after two generations of titanium on the Pro line.
After the launch, some users on the MacRumors forum reflected that dark blue and cosmic orange versions were more prone to scratches or rashes than other colors.
YouTube channel JerryRigEverything also conducted a durability test on the iPhone 17 Pro. The results showed that the anodized coating can withstand common items such as keys or coins quite well. However, the camera bezel is considered a weakness as scratches and rashes are more likely to appear.
Some users of the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro later also reflected color changes on the frame and camera cluster. In some cases, Apple is said to have replaced the device for customers.
Recent leaked information indicates that the iPhone 18 Pro may appear with 4 color options including dark cherry red, light blue, dark gray and silver.
In which, dark cherry red is said to become the new main color of the Pro line. Some sources describe this as a wine red tone that is significantly darker than the previous cosmic orange.
If the leaked information is accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro will not have a black color option for the 2nd consecutive year.
