According to IDC Worldwide Global Forecast, in 2025, the world will create 175 zettabyte of data and in just the next 10 years, this number will increase by more than 10 times, surpassing 2,100 zettabyte.
In addition, according to a survey report from data storage and management company Synology on digital transformation trends in 2025, nearly 90% of businesses in Southeast Asia have invested in digital transformation, not only as a plan, but as a strategic commitment.
However, the challenge is still huge when 85% of new businesses are in the initial stage, while more than 55% have been attacked by cyber attacks but only 1/5 believe in the ability to recover after the incident.
In Vietnam, the digital transformation process is also taking place strongly, especially in enterprises, with more than 48,000 digital enterprises in operation. According to Ms. Thachawan Chinchanakarn - synology's leadership representative in Southeast Asia, digital transformation is the main driving force for data growth, but this growth momentum also leads to increasing demand for advanced technology solutions, to ensure information security and data protection.
According to experts, Vietnam is one of the countries with the strongest digital transformation momentum compared to Southeast Asian countries. The Vietnamese government also creates conditions and opens up opportunities for businesses. However, one of the problems at present is how to accelerate digital transformation in Vietnam.
"It is necessary to consider what barriers and difficulties are hindering digital transformation. In our opinion, one of those obstacles is ensuring information security. Over the past two years, Vietnam has had major cyber attacks such as the VNDirect case, greatly affecting the banking and finance industry.
This helps people see more clearly the importance of how to build a safe and effective data storage system. That is a prerequisite to note in the digital transformation era, shared an international expert.
According to statistics from the National Cyber Security Association, in 2024, up to 46.15% of agencies and enterprises in Vietnam said they had been attacked by cyber attacks at least once. The total number of cyber attacks is estimated at more than 659,000 cases, mostly aimed at stealing information and data.
Faced with these problems, experts emphasized that finding solutions, backup devices, and data protection at many different locations, increasing resilience to cyber risks is a top priority for businesses. That will help them ensure continuous business, improve competitiveness, and sustainable development in the digital age.
