Beware of strange links in messages
A popular form of fraud is sending malicious links via Messenger, impersonating friends to exploit curiosity. These links lead to fake pages, luring you to log in or provide personal information to take over your account.
How to prevent:
Absolutely do not click on strange links, even if the sender is an acquaintance.
Check the link before opening, if the domain name is unusually long, contains strange characters or is unrelated, ignore it.
If you suspect it, you should text or call the sender to verify.
Do not provide personal information, OTP code or password via text message
Facebook, banks and reputable organizations never ask you to provide sensitive information via Messenger. If you receive a text message asking for a authentication code, password or account information for any reason, it is likely a scam.
How to prevent:
Do not share OTP codes, passwords, bank account numbers or CMND/CCCD via text messages.
If you have provided it incorrectly, you need to immediately change your password and activate two-factor authentication to protect your account.
Contact a bank or related services if there is a risk of losing money.
Check the texting account
Many people are scammed out of trust in acquaintances, but in fact their friend's account has been hacked or forged.
How to prevent:
If you are suspicious, call that person directly to verify.
Absolutely do not transfer money or follow instructions without verification.
Report the fake account to Facebook for timely handling.
turned on two-factor authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication helps increase Facebook account security. When this feature is enabled, in addition to the password, you will need an additional authentication code (usually sent via phone or application) to log in, helping to prevent others from accessing even if you have a password.
How to turn on 2FA:
Go to Settings & privacy on Facebook.
Select Security and log in.
click on Use two-factor authentication.
Choose a verification method like SMS or a authentication application, then follow the instructions.
Check and export from strange devices
To ensure that your account is not illegally accessed by others, you should regularly check the devices you are logged into on Facebook.
How to check:
Go to Settings > Security and log in > Where you have logged in.
If you find a strange device or location, select immediately register.
Then change your password to protect your account.
Proactively warn and report fraud
If you discover that your friend's account is being fake or hacked, notify them immediately for timely handling. At the same time, you should use the fake Facebook account reporting function to warn the community and prevent bad guys from continuing to scam.
