The move shows that even streaming platforms with more than 300 million subscribers are concerned about competing with apps like TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
The new feature provides a mobile-only vertical interface, allowing users to scroll through clips taken from Netflix's original content.
In this interface, users can tap to watch the entire film or program, save it to viewers' lists, or share it with friends.
Notably, these clips were selected from the "Suggestions for Today for You" section instead of from the entire Netflix library, to personalize the content and encourage viewers to switch to watching the full film.
The feature will be rolled out globally in the coming weeks on iOS and Android devices, as a new tab on the homepage.
Netflix is launching this experiment in the context of increasingly fierce competition between platforms to attract users' attention. The audience increasingly favours fast entertainment, causing the habit of watching traditional music to change. Even big names like Netflix have to adapt to retain and attract new subscribers.
