According to Mr. Pham Thanh Tam, the city issued a document to direct relevant units to urgently overcome pollution in the Southeast waste treatment area. In particular, Ecotech Environmental Technology Investment and Development Joint Stock Company - the operator of the Southeast waste treatment plant - is required to increase the frequency of biological spraying, covering the waste incubation area, while limiting the waste mixing at hot and humid times to reduce the smell.
For the landfill area managed by Thanh Hoa Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa City requires this unit to thoroughly handle the odor at landfill No. 7 and the leachate ditches, and urgently cover all landfills that have stopped receiving waste but are now covered with torn tarpaulins.
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, for many years, people living near the Dong Nam landfill area (Dong Nam commune, Thanh Hoa city) have been continuously upset because they have to live in a polluted environment due to the smell from the landfill. In recent days, the situation of protests has increased when people set up tents and blocked garbage trucks into the landfill area, causing serious congestion in Thanh Hoa City, with streets and residential areas flooded with garbage.
According to the report of the Urban Rules Team of Thanh Hoa City, implementing the direction of the City People's Committee on the introduction of daily -life waste into the testing of the Southeast Domestic Waste Treatment Plant of Ecotech Investment and Environmental Technology Joint Stock Company (referred to as the Ecotech Environment Company), the inspection force has coordinated with the waste and hygiene and daily -life of Thanh Hoa. in the city for the factory.
Within 1 month (from March 25, 2025 to April 25, 2025), the total volume of waste transferred will reach more than 14,000 tons, confirmed by the electronic weighing system.
However, during the trial operation, the Southeast Waste Treatment Plant has not yet provided complete documents related to waste treatment technology, causing many difficulties in the inspection and supervision of the Urban Regulation Inspection Team. In that situation, the authorities have requested the factory to strengthen measures to control and handle odors to limit the pollution spreading to residential areas.
At the same time, during the time of receiving garbage from Thanh Hoa City, Thanh Hoa Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company continued to treat leachate generated in the landfills, while increasing spraying of deodorants and tarpaulin covers to minimize the odor from the landfills.
