On September 23, Deputy State Auditor General (SA) Bui Quoc Dung chaired a conference on information security drills on information technology systems. The conference was attended by representatives of many agencies, specialized units on cybersecurity and leading technology enterprises.
In his speech, Deputy Attorney General Bui Quoc Dung emphasized that the State Audit's information technology system is an important national data infrastructure, not only serving auditing activities but also storing a large amount of data on budgets, finance and public assets. Ensuring information security is not only about protecting data but also protecting the transparency, publicity, reputation and trust of society in the Auditing industry.

In the context of strong digital transformation, Vietnam is also facing increasing risks of information security and cybersecurity. In the first half of 2025 alone, the country recorded more than 8.5 million stolen accounts, nearly 530,000 DDoS attacks and 191 data leaks with more than 3 billion records affected. This figure is three times higher than the same period in 2024. malware blackmail attacks have caused a loss of more than 10 million USD, making Vietnam in the group of 10 countries with the most cyber attacks in the world.
The drill simulated many real-life attack scenarios, detecting some technical vulnerabilities and how users were deceived by fake emails. Based on the actual results, Deputy Secretary of the State Audit Office Bui Quoc Dung requested units to urgently overcome the loophole and upgrade the information security system to level 4. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen access control solutions and organize training and coaching to raise awareness of security for the entire state budget sector.

Appreciating the responsible and professional coordination of the units participating in the drill, the Deputy State Auditor General suggested that the units continue to accompany the Department of Information Technology of the State Audit in strengthening the capacity to protect the information system, better serving the audit work.
In recent times, in addition to continuing to upgrade the information security system, the State Audit has focused on promoting the application of information technology (IT) and digital transformation in auditing activities, especially the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve efficiency, in line with the national digital transformation policy.
Accordingly, the State Audit is focusing on developing AI applications to support the identification and selection of audited units to serve the annual audit plan; apply AI in analyzing, evaluating and synthesizing audit findings and recommendations; build a model of applying artificial intelligence in supporting the assessment and control of the quality of audit activities.
This conference not only has technical significance, in line with the State Audit Development Strategy to 2030 but also demonstrates the strategic vision and close direction of the State Audit leaders in protecting national data infrastructure, improving public governance capacity, meeting increasingly high requirements for transparency, efficiency and safety in auditing activities, contributing to the country's sustainable development.
