GPT-5.6 is expected to include 3 different models. Among them, Sol is the most powerful model ever, Terra is aimed at daily usage needs with performance equivalent to GPT-5.5 but the cost is only half, while Luna is the model with the lowest price.
OpenAI said it will widely release GPT-5.6 in the next few weeks. Notably, GPT-5.6 adds inference mode, allowing the Sol model to spend more time processing complex problems.
OpenAI said that Sol is also the company's strongest model in the field of cybersecurity, which can support detecting and fixing security vulnerabilities.
The company has strengthened protection measures for high-risk requirements and spent weeks checking and patching weaknesses before issuance.
All versions of GPT-5.6 are supplemented with multiple layers of protection against actual attacks. OpenAI also trains models to refuse to support prohibited behaviors related to cybersecurity, including attempts to overcome the model's protection mechanisms.
Currently, OpenAI only provides GPT-5.6 to some selected partners before its widespread release.
Changes in inference capability, security and cost are considered to be noteworthy points when this model line officially reaches users in the near future.
