A leak revealed that the new Siri could be integrated into the iOS 26.4 update, due in March next year. This means that users may have to wait nearly two years from the time the new Siri is announced until they can experience it in practice.
At the 2024 World Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple attracted attention when it introduced a smarter and more personalized Siri that is capable of understanding on-screen content and acting directly in the application. In demos, Siri can automatically extract flight information from emails or insert photos into documents all without manual control.
However, in a recent interview, Apple leaders admitted that the reason for the delay was because the new Siri did not meet internal quality standards.
The delay in the new Siri shows that Apple is very careful with its artificial intelligence (AI) strategy. Although disappointing, if Siri can truly do what Apple promises, such as understanding context, flexible application control, and providing closer user assistance, then waiting a few months is probably worth it.
The important thing at this time according to many users is that Apple needs to restore trust, avoid repeating the lesson of promoting beyond the product's capabilities.
