Promoting the movement of researching and creating UAV technology among teenagers
In recent years, UAV technology has been developing strongly and being widely applied in many fields such as logistics, smart agriculture, environmental monitoring, urban management, rescue and many other economic and technical sectors. This is also one of the important areas of the low-level economy that the Government and Ho Chi Minh City are interested in developing.
Through the contest, the Organizing Committee wishes to create conditions for students to access advanced technologies, promote creative thinking, research, design, manufacture and operation capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles; and at the same time, strengthen academic exchanges between educational institutions, businesses and experts in the field of UAV.
In particular, the competition will be the basis for selecting teams with outstanding achievements to participate in in-depth training programs and gradually form the Ho Chi Minh City Drone Soccer Team to participate in international tournaments.
Three exam categories for students nationwide
The contest is for secondary school students, high school students, vocational education centers - continuing education, students of colleges and universities in Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities across the country.
The exam content is divided into 3 groups:
- Group A: Drone Soccer competition for junior high school students.
- Group B: Drone Soccer competition for high school students.
- Table C: Design, manufacture and operation of UAVs performing tasks as required by the Organizing Committee for students and youth.
For Groups A and B, teams will compete in the form of Drone Soccer - a technology sport developed globally by the International Federation of Drones Soccer Associations (FIDA). The competition equipment uses bridge-shaped drones covered by protective frames, ensuring safety during the competition.
For Group C, teams will design, manufacture and operate UAVs to complete missions on the terrain according to criteria of creativity, applicability, technical efficiency and safety assurance.
The contest will officially receive registration dossiers from the time of issuing the plan until the end of August 30, 2026 through the Electronic Information Portal at: https://263. org. vn/uav2026.
In July 2026, the Organizing Committee will announce the rules and professional requirements of the preliminary round. Training programs will be implemented in August 2026 to support teams to access UAV regulations, techniques and technologies. The preliminary round is expected to take place in September 2026 and the final round will be held in October 2026.
Through this activity, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology expects to gradually form a community of research and innovation on UAVs; discover and nurture young talents in the field of high technology; contribute to building high-quality human resources to serve the strategy of science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation and low-level economic development of Ho Chi Minh City in the new period.
