Google is developing a new desktop application called Essentials, which integrates a number of Google services such as Messages and Photos, and provides links to download many other services. This application will be pre-installed on many new Windows laptops, with the first models coming from HP.
According to Google's announcement, the Essentials app allows users to "discover and install many Google services" and also allows browsing Google Photos; Send and receive Google Messages within the app.
The full list of applications has not been announced. But the image in Google's announcement shows the icons for Google Sheets, Google Drive, Nearby Share, and Google One (which offers a 2-month free trial to new users through Essentials).
HP will begin integrating Google Essentials into its computer lines. Google says you can “control your experience” and can uninstall any part of Essentials or the entire app. Essentials also includes the Google Play Games app, which allows you to download popular Android games to your computer.
Google said that it will roll out the Essentials app to other Windows computers in the future.
