According to information from Theverge, the device will officially be on shelves from June 24 (US time) with a price of 189.99 USD - 20 USD higher than the initial announcement in March.
According to the Yale representative, the reason for this price adjustment is the impact of tariff policies, causing total product costs to increase. The new lock will be available on Amazon and the company's official website.
The product marks a notable upgrade in Yale's smart lock portfolio. Not only is it deeply compatible with Google Home and Nest video doormat, the device also supports Matter over Thread connectivity standards that allow multi-platform operations with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung Smart Things and Home Assistant.
Increased tariffs and production costs force us to adjust prices, Catelyn Herman, senior product manager at Yale, told The Verge.
The lock will have 3 color options including white, black and gray (the gray version will be on shelves in the fall of this year). The product uses 4 AA batteries, promising a shelf life of up to 12 months thanks to the Matter over Thread connection, which saves energy and responds faster than previous Wi-Fi or Bluetooth locks.
According to Yale, users can control the lock in many ways: enter code on the keyboard, use a physical key, or remotely control via the Google Home application. In addition, Apple's virtual assistants such as Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Siri can also output voice unlock commands. In particular, Google confirmed that the voice pin unlock feature is now available via Google Assistant.
However, unlike the Nest x Yale lock that was integrated with the Nest secure security system, the new lock did not support integration with any security system at the time of launch.
