On July 14, according to updated data from Forbes, Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong owns assets of about 33.9 billion USD, continuing to hold the position of the richest billionaire in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
Compared to the beginning of 2026, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong's assets have increased sharply. According to Forbes rankings updated by domestic newspapers at the beginning of the year, Vingroup Chairman owns about 27.7 billion USD. Thus, after just over half a year, his assets have increased by about 6.2 billion USD, equivalent to an increase of more than 22%.
This increase mainly comes from the positive developments of Vingroup shares and businesses in the ecosystem such as VinFast, Vinhomes and Vinpearl, helping the asset value of the Vietnamese billionaire continuously improve in Forbes' real-time rankings.
Meanwhile, according to Forbes' real-time ranking, Thai energy billionaire Sarath Ratanavadi is ranked right after Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong in the Southeast Asian billionaire group. He currently owns about 17.3 billion USD. This asset level has hardly changed significantly in the past time, making the gap between the two businessmen increasingly wide.
Not only maintaining the leading position in terms of asset scale, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong is also the largest contributor in the group of USD billionaires of Vietnam.
Currently, Vietnam has 8 USD billionaires in the Forbes list, including:
- Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong - Chairman of Vingroup.
- Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - Chairwoman of Sovico Group, Vice Chairwoman of HDBank, founder of Vietjet Air.
- Mr. Tran Dinh Long - Chairman of Hoa Phat Group.
- Mr. Ho Hung Anh - Chairman of Techcombank.
- Ms. Pham Thu Huong - Vice President of Vingroup.
- Ms. Pham Thuy Hang - Vice President of Vingroup.
- Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang - Chairman of Masan Group.
- Mr. Ngo Chi Dung - Chairman of VPBank.
The presence of 8 USD billionaires is the highest number ever, reflecting the growth of Vietnam's private business sector. However, in terms of asset scale, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong still creates a very large gap with the rest of the domestic billionaire group as well as many leading Southeast Asian entrepreneurs.
According to experts, the asset value of billionaires may continue to fluctuate according to stock market developments. However, the increase of more than 6 billion USD of Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong in the first half of 2026 is showing a rare breakthrough speed, thereby continuing to consolidate the position of Vietnamese entrepreneurs on the regional super-rich map.
