15.2% of the 16th National Assembly deputies are ethnic minorities

76/500 delegates elected as National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term are ethnic minorities, accounting for 15.2%.

The National Election Council has just held a press conference to announce the Resolution on election results and the list of elected National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term.

According to the official election results, among the 500 National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term elected, 76 delegates are ethnic minorities, belonging to 29 ethnic groups. This rate accounts for 15.2% of the total number of delegates.

Notably, for the first time, our National Assembly has added representatives of the O Du ethnic group - one of the smallest ethnic groups in Vietnam.

That is teacher Lo Thi Bao Vy, of the O Du ethnic group. This is 1 of the 7 youngest female National Assembly deputies in the country and also the youngest National Assembly deputy of the 16th term.

The O Du ethnic group is one of the smallest ethnic groups in Vietnam, with a population of only about 428 people as of the 2019 census. They reside mainly in Nghe An province.

Also according to the election results, the bloc of ethnic minority deputies includes the Tay ethnic group with 11 deputies; the Thai ethnic group with 10 deputies; the H'Mong ethnic group with 9 deputies; the Khmer ethnic group with 6 deputies; the Nung ethnic group: 5 deputies; the Muong ethnic group with 5 deputies, and nearly 20 ethnic groups with at least one deputy elected to the 16th National Assembly.

The Tay ethnic group (11 delegates) includes: delegate Duong Mac Kien; delegate Doan Thi Le An; delegate Be Trung Anh; delegate Hoang Duy Chinh; delegate Ha Sy Huan; delegate Nguyen Viet Ha; delegate Hoang Ngoc Dinh; delegate Hoang Van Nghiem; delegate Ma Thi Thuy; delegate Be Xuan Truong; delegate Ha Duc Minh.

The Thai ethnic group (10 delegates) includes: delegate Quang Van Huong; delegate Luong Thi Hoa; delegate Lo Thi Viet Ha; delegate Lo Thi Luyen; delegate Ha Thi Nga; delegate Lo Viet Phuong; delegate Lo Thi Huyen; delegate Ca Thi Tham; delegate Lo Van Tho; delegate Luong Van Tham.

The H'Mong ethnic group (9 delegates) includes: delegate Pham Thuy Chinh; delegate Vu A Bang; delegate Sung A Lenh; delegate Trang A Duong; delegate Giang Thi Dung; delegate Sam Minh Ho; delegate Sung A Ho; delegate Ly Thi Lan; delegate Trang A Tenh.

The Khmer ethnic group (6 delegates) includes: delegate Ly Duc (Senate Ly Minh Duc); delegate Chau Quynh Dao; delegate Thach Phuoc Binh; delegate Huynh Kim Minh Tam; delegate Tran Thi Hoa Ry; delegate Lam Van Man.

Nung ethnic group (5 delegates) including: delegate Phung Duc Chinh; delegate Hoang Van Tuyen; delegate Be Thanh Tinh; delegate Doan Thu Ha; delegate Hua Duc Viet.

Muong ethnic group (5 delegates) including: delegate Dang Bich Ngoc; delegate Bui Manh Khoa; delegate Cao Thi Xuan; delegate Dinh Cong Sy; delegate Bui Thi Kim Tuyen.
