In the afternoon of January 9, 2026, in An Giang province, the Command of Naval Region 5 met with a delegation visiting and wishing Tet to forces and people on the Southwest islands.

Speaking at the meeting, Rear Admiral Ngo Van Thanh, Political Commissar of Naval Region 5 Command, expressed his pleasure to welcome delegates to visit, encourage, and wish Tet to soldiers and people on the islands in the Southwest Sea of the Fatherland.

At the same time, Rear Admiral Ngo Van Thanh also introduced some main features of the process of construction, combat, growth and development of Region 5; the situation of political security, social order and safety in the Southwest sea area and outstanding achievements of officers and soldiers in 2025.

The trip demonstrates the deep concern of Party committees, authorities, people of localities, businesses, and press agencies for the forces performing tasks to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, including Naval Region 5 as the core force. “This is a special concern, a deep affection of the mainland towards the sea and islands of the Fatherland in the days of Tet and Spring” - Rear Admiral Ngo Van Thanh emphasized.

Rear Admiral Ngo Van Thanh said that this trip was basically favorable, but also encountered certain difficulties, such as forecast weather with big waves and winds, cramped, difficult, and deprived accommodation conditions on the ship... However, with the highest possible capacity, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 5 will wholeheartedly serve to ensure the successful mission.

We hope that each comrade in the delegation will sympathize with the unit's conditions, try to overcome difficulties, overcome initial awkwardness to join the Delegation to come to the army and people on the sea and islands of the Southwest with sincere feelings, creating the most beautiful impression" - Rear Admiral Ngo Van Thanh said.
