Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just chaired a meeting of the Central Steering Committee for the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide (5th time), the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the Transport sector (GTVT) (18th time); Promoting the disbursement of public investment capital in 2025 (2nd time) on June 22.
At the meeting, leaders of provinces and cities reported on the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in their localities. According to the report, many localities have completed and reached the finish line early.
Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen said that the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, especially for poor and near-poor households, Hanoi has reached the finish line nearly a year ahead of schedule, to be completed before September 30, 2024.
For war invalids and martyrs' households, Hanoi has implemented basic measures, focusing on completing before July 27, 2025. Regarding this content, the City will implement without major problems, implementing in the spirit of the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister.

Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong said that the city had completed the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses before April 20, supported 330 households with a total cost of 23.5 billion VND, and to date there are no more temporary or dilapidated houses in the area. In addition, the city has supported the repair of 900 poor and near-poor apartments.
In the coming time, the City will focus on the group of houses on and along canals to solve about 40,000 houses on 398 canals (5,500 houses in 2024), combining national target programs and ODA projects (such as the project to improve the water environment phase 3 with JICA capital) to create better living conditions for people.
Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Lau said that by June 19, the province had basically completed the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. The number is 8,917 units, the total cost is 463.65 billion VND, reaching 100% of the set plan.
The leader of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province said that by June 20, 2025, the province has completed 100% of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses with a total of 6,331 houses, of which about 2/3 are newly built houses and 1/3 are repaired houses, with a total implementation cost of about 319 billion VND, of which the budget is about 261 billion VND and the support of organizations, individuals and enterprises is about 58 billion VND.
Organizations, armed forces, and Youth Union have actively supported working days, transported materials, and many good models have been replicated.
Quang Ngai province also proposed that the Government, ministries and central branches continue to support housing for poor households, near-poor households and national target programs for the period 2026 - 2030 to facilitate the repair and replacement of houses that need support from previous programs, especially in mountainous areas, remote areas.
Acting Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province Hoang Nam said that, under the direction of the Central Government, Quang Tri considers the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses as a key task with support for 7,515 units, to date, 7,380 units have been deployed, reaching 98.3%, and 485 more units have been created. The province is striving to complete more than 6,000 units by June 30.
The province has mobilized over 400 billion VND. Housing support for meritorious people reached a disbursement rate of 77.6%. Despite many difficulties, from the local budget, housing support for meritorious people has reached over 81 billion VND. According to the plan, on June 23, the province will organize a summary and complete this work.
Reporting the results at the meeting, Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Dao Ngoc Dung said that thanks to strong direction, up to now, 38/63 localities have completed the entire target of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for all three groups of subjects, an increase of 23 localities compared to the fourth meeting. By June 30, it is expected that 8 more localities will complete, bringing the total to 46. In July, 3 localities registered to complete; in August, 14 more localities, striving to complete nationwide by August 25.
