Border guards and youth union members in Lang Son are supporting people in border areas to access digital technology, develop the economy and improve their lives.

In border communes of Lang Son province, the image of border guards and youth union members guiding people to install public service applications, make non-cash payments or use smartphones has become familiar. Digital transformation is gradually changing the lives of people in border areas, contributing to socio-economic development and maintaining security and order, according to VNA.

Chi Ma village, Mau Son commune currently has 230 households with nearly 1,000 people, mostly ethnic minorities. Many elderly people still have limited technology skills, so officers and soldiers of Chi Ma border gate station directly go to each household to guide them on how to use smartphones, install public service applications, electronic identification and use the internet safely.

Village head of Chi Ma village Vi Van Nhu said that in the past, many people were hesitant about technology because they thought it was difficult to use and had not seen practical benefits. However, after being guided, many households have proactively applied digital technology to business and trading.

Mr. Truong Xuan Lai - a resident of Chi Ma village - shared: "Thanks to accessing information on social networks and community groups from the guidance of border guards, we people can quickly update new guidelines and policies of the State.

Along with supporting people to use smartphones, the border guard force also promotes legal propaganda through Zalo and Facebook community groups. Content on crime prevention and control, illegal entry and exit, and border sovereignty protection is transmitted in short, accessible images and videos.

From 2025 to now, the Chi Ma border gate border guard station has organized more than 80 propaganda sessions, attracting over 3,500 participants, and integrating digital transformation guidance for people.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Tran Trong Toi - Political Commissar of Chi Ma border gate border guard station - said that the unit is coordinating with the locality to maintain the effectiveness of the Information and Communication team to improve the quality of mass mobilization, meeting the requirements of digital transformation.

In Ba Son commune, where more than 10,000 people live in 25 villages, including 13 border villages, digital transformation is also spreading strongly. Khuoi Phieng village is nearly 20km from the commune center, and the Dao ethnic people mainly live by afforestation and swidden farming.

Previously, many people only used phones to make calls. Concepts such as "online public services", "electronic identification" are still unfamiliar. To remove difficulties, the Ba Son Border Guard Station Youth Union coordinated with the commune youth union to directly go to each household to guide people to access digital technology.

Currently, Ba Son commune has established 25 community digital technology teams with the core force being youth union members and Border Guards. The teams support people in carrying out many administrative procedures in the online environment such as birth registration, residence confirmation, and health insurance registration.

According to Secretary of the Ba Son Commune Youth Union Luong Bich Loan, more than 90% of households in the commune have used basic digital applications. Digital transformation helps people reduce time and travel costs and gradually form the habit of solving work in the digital environment.
