Dak Lak - Thanks to the resources of the 1719 Program, people's lives and the appearance of rural areas in the province are increasingly improving, the rate of poor and near-poor households has decreased.

Effective poverty reduction from Program 1719 resources

According to the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Dak Lak province, after merging with Phu Yen (not including merging communes), the province has a total of 152 communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Of which, there are 66 communes in area III, 6 communes in area II, and 80 communes in area I.

In the period of 2020 - 2025, the province will achieve the poverty reduction target in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, an average reduction of 4.2%/year. Of which, 82 villages and hamlets have escaped from extremely difficult areas, reaching a rate of 14%, and 52 communes in Area I have met new rural standards.

To achieve that result, it is thanks to the resources of the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas (pr program 1719).

Accordingly, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the total capital assigned to implement Program 1719 of the province is more than 4,200 billion VND. The disbursement result (until early July 2025) reached more than VND 2,800 billion, reaching 67% of the plan.

The province has provided residential land support to 53 households, housing support to 1,717 households, and distributed domestic water support to 17,418 households; supported job conversion, purchased agricultural machinery and tools for 2,966 households; supported asphalting, concreting or hardening 290 km of rural traffic roads...

Mr. Pham Ba Thin - Secretary of the Party Committee of Krong Nang commune (former Chairman of the People's Committee of the old Krong Nang district) - assessed: "The 1719 program is a large program, comprehensive and comprehensive.

From the program's resources, authorities at all levels have invested and comprehensively developed fields in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Thereby, contributing to improving living conditions and narrowing the development gap between regions".

Many infrastructure investment and renovation projects have been implemented, promptly meeting the urgent needs of local people. This is an important foundation to move towards the goal of sustainable poverty reduction in ethnic minority areas, Mr. Thin shared.

Continue to effectively allocate resources

In the period of 2026 - 2030, Dak Lak province strives to reduce the average poverty rate by 2% or more/year; the poverty rate among ethnic minorities will decrease by an average of 3% or more/year. In the current context, this is a difficult task, facing many difficulties and challenges.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang - Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of Dak Lak province - said: "In the coming period, we will continue to implement well the sub-projects and projects under Program 1719.

In particular, focusing on prioritizing the implementation of policies and projects to directly support the poor and care for the lives of ethnic minorities. Resources will be prioritized for communes with high poverty rates, especially disadvantaged villages and hamlets with many ethnic minorities".

According to Mr. Giang, to effectively implement the program, the unit is proposing to expand the beneficiaries of a number of projects, sub-projects, and component contents.

In particular, increasing the level of support for residential land, housing, production land, domestic water and lending to support housing; supplementing and expanding the borrowers such as near-poor households, households that have just escaped poverty...

The province needs to have appropriate policies to mobilize and attract partners, investors, and key enterprises to invest in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

"We believe that Program 1719 will be a real lever to create conditions to promote the development of the province. Thereby, creating livelihoods, helping ethnic minorities have the opportunity to develop and improve their lives, and making the countryside look better," Mr. Giang added.

Mr. Truong Cong Thai - Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee - assessed: "In recent years, the propaganda work of Lao Dong Newspaper in national target programs has contributed to changing production thinking, helping people access modern economic methods.

This is also part of the efforts to effectively implement Program 1719 for the period 2021 - 2030, while strengthening people's trust in the policies and guidelines of the Party and State".
