Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee has just directed departments, agencies, branches and People's Committees of communes and wards in the area to organize practical activities towards the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2027), prioritizing care for people with meritorious services and their families, according to Dong Thap e-Portal.
Accordingly, units are required to seriously grasp and closely follow Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW dated June 24, 2026 of the Secretariat; promote propaganda work, highlighting the political, historical and humanistic significance of the anniversary.
Departments, branches and localities in the province continue to strengthen patriotic and revolutionary tradition education, especially for the young generation; promote the spirit of "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude" to become sustainable values in social life, contributing to consolidating people's trust in the Party and State, arousing the will and aspiration to contribute to building a rich, prosperous, civilized, and happy country.
Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Military Command to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs and relevant agencies and localities to focus highly on the task of searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains; promote the application of science and technology, digital transformation and DNA testing; soon complete a synchronous database on people with meritorious services and martyrs.
The Department of Home Affairs shall preside over and coordinate with the Department of Finance and relevant units to review investment programs, prioritize upgrading and repairing the Nursing Center for people with meritorious services, martyrs' cemeteries, martyrs' memorial works, martyrs' temples and martyrs' stele houses throughout the province, ensuring practicality, efficiency, and avoiding spreading and formalism.
The Department of Home Affairs researches and advises the Provincial People's Committee to focus resources on implementing the adjustment of preferential policies for people with meritorious services from July 1, 2026 and periodically according to the state budget capacity; prioritize solving urgent issues of housing, life, health care for people with meritorious services and relatives of people with meritorious services, taking the results of caring for people with meritorious services as a real measure of commemorative activities.
