Dong Thap Electronic Information Portal reported that on November 7, Mr. Tran Tri Quang - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of provincial departments and branches visited a number of households with crops damaged by the impact of rain, floods combined with prolonged high tides.

My Thien commune has 4,500 hectares of agricultural land, of which 500 hectares are rice land, the rest is durian and fruit trees. This year, high tides combined with heavy rain have caused people to react. Many fruit gardens ( durian, jackfruit, lemon) are in a state of flooding and dead trees. The authorities and people urgently reinforced the embankment and pumped out water to save the trees immediately after the water receded.
Mr. Tran Tri Quang listened to and acknowledged the opinions of the people of My Thien commune on investing in solid dykes, installing drainage culverts to protect fruit gardens, and upgrading traffic routes to conveniently transport agricultural products.

In Phuong Thinh commune, leaders came to survey Hamlet 2A, due to rising water, a section of the dike broke, damaging 165.8 hectares of agricultural production including rice, lotus, and jackfruit of the people.
During the 2025 flood season, the commune will experience many high tides combined with prolonged heavy rain, breaking a section of the dike protecting the An Long - 5 Phuoc - Cay Vong - Tan Cong Sinh pumping station. The above incident caused flooding, causing a total of 165.8 hectares of agricultural production (rice, jackfruit, lotus) to be damaged.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Finance to coordinate with the Commune People's Committee to urgently review and count the damaged areas, advise the Provincial People's Committee on remedial plans as well as funding sources to promptly support people to restore production, especially in the upcoming Winter-Spring crop.
According to statistics from the Irrigation Department, in the first 10 months of 2025, rain, floods and high tides have flooded many houses and infrastructure (completely damaged 11.31 hectares of crops and 367.3 hectares of rice; damaged (30 - 70%) 593.73 hectares of fruit trees, 9.72 hectares of fish ponds), the total preliminary damage is estimated at about 24.6 billion VND.
