On March 25, Tuyen Lam Commune People's Committee (Quang Tri province) said that in the past time, the Commune Farmers' Association has implemented many practical activities such as providing capital and technical support, helping members boldly borrow capital, taking advantage of local advantages for production and business, gradually escaping poverty and getting rich legitimately.
Currently, the Commune Farmers' Association has more than 1,500 members operating in 15 branches. To promote economic development, the Association promotes propaganda and mobilizes members to expand production and business; and at the same time links with businesses, banks, and credit institutions to support capital, seeds and high-quality materials.
Along with that, local authorities and mass organizations have effectively implemented state support policies, helping people access capital, plant varieties, livestock, agricultural tools for production and applying science and technology to production.
To date, the Farmers' Support Fund has reached over 562 million VND, creating conditions for 5 loan projects. The Association also coordinates with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to implement many solutions to improve the efficiency of using preferential credit capital. Currently, the Association manages 15 savings and loan groups with 599 members, with a total outstanding debt of over 44 billion VND, without incurring overdue debts.
In addition, voluntary savings capital of members reached nearly 2 billion VND. The Association also performed well in credit work with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, with a total outstanding debt of 65.7 billion VND for 282 members to borrow for production and business development. Capital sources have been effective, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in the locality.
Thanks to support activities, the whole commune currently has 166 farming households achieving the title of good production and business at all levels, including 1 central-level household and 7 provincial-level households. Many members boldly apply science and technology, convert crop and livestock structure, introduce new varieties into production, and improve economic efficiency.
Thereby, creating jobs for dozens of workers, many households achieving hundreds of millions of VND in revenue each year, and at the same time supporting other members with capital and materials for joint development. The poverty rate of the commune is currently reduced to 12.43%, contributing to building an increasingly stable and sustainable economic life.
