According to records, each shrimp weighs about 150 grams, nearly 30cm long. The appearance of the "giant" pair of shrimp quickly attracted many farmers around to watch. Many people also placed shrimp next to sandals to take pictures and post on social networks.
Mr. Hieu said that these black tiger shrimp were released "for fun" nearly a year ago in the water settling ponds of the industrial whiteleg shrimp farming model.
I mainly raise whiteleg shrimp, but I also release a few thousand more black tiger shrimp so that when friends come to visit, they can use them. There are a few remaining shrimp, so sometimes every few days I catch 1-2 large ones," Mr. Hieu said.
According to Mr. Hieu, black tiger shrimp under 10 shrimp/kg currently costs about 350,000 VND/kg. With its large size, the pair of shrimp caught on the same morning was sold by him for more than 100,000 VND.
Nearly a month earlier, in the settling pond, Mr. Hieu also caught a sea crab weighing 1.1 kg. This is a type 1 meat crab, priced at about 400,000 VND/kg, so the crab was sold for 440,000 VND.
