This approach contributes to preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups, while fostering love for the homeland and national pride for the young generation, according to VNA.
Discovering culture from the classroom
At Be Van Dan Elementary School, Dien Bien Phu ward (Dien Bien), the introduction of traditional culture into schools has been implemented for many years. Lessons are not only confined to books but also become vivid with the sounds and colors of national cultural activities.

During music lessons, students get acquainted with the folk song "Inh la oi" - a familiar song of the Thai ethnic people. Students not only learn to sing and practice dancing but also learn about the meaning and origin of each tune. The school also collects many folk musical instruments such as khen, dan tinh, flute to put into teaching, helping students access culture in an intuitive and close way.
Hoang Ngoc Anh, a 5A1 student, said that participating in activities such as Thai Xoe dance makes her more interested and proud of the culture of ethnic groups in her homeland.
Not only stopping at extracurricular activities, traditional cultural content is also flexibly integrated into subjects. Images of customs, habits and unique cultural values of ethnic groups are easily understood by teachers in lectures, helping students both absorb knowledge and form the awareness of preserving and promoting traditions.
Widespread at all levels of education
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Principal of Be Van Dan Elementary School, bringing traditional culture into schools is no longer a movement but has become a long-term orientation. The school continues to direct teachers and team leaders to build more activities suitable for their age, helping students access culture more effectively.
At the high school level, this activity is strongly and typically implemented at Dien Bien province's ethnic minority boarding high school. In the 2025-2026 school year, the school has 980 students of 19 ethnic groups, creating a favorable environment for exchange, learning and cultural preservation.
Every year, the school organizes cultural festivals with many activities such as art performances, recreating traditional festivals, performing ethnic costumes, teaching khen dances, and singing folk songs. These programs not only create useful playgrounds but also help students better understand the roots and identity of each ethnic group.
Mr. Vu Trung Hoan - Principal of the school - said that through the festivals, students have the opportunity to learn more deeply about the traditions of brotherly ethnic groups, thereby raising awareness of preserving and promoting cultural values.
Reality shows that bringing traditional culture into schools in Dien Bien brings positive effects. Students are not only equipped with knowledge but also experience and practice in a diverse cultural environment, thereby forming personality, nurturing soul and fostering national pride.
