The event aims to assess the quality of language training for ethnic minorities, thereby spreading the movement "every officer and soldier of the Border Guard knows how to listen and speak Tay ethnic language, and knows how to write Tay ethnic script", according to VNA.
Speaking at the contest, Colonel Lieu Minh Tien - Deputy Commander of Lang Son Provincial Border Guard - emphasized the special position of the Tay people in the cultural and social life of the border region.
Border guards play a core role in managing and protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security. Therefore, the skillful use of the language and writing of ethnic minorities by officers and soldiers is an important bridge connecting forces with the people.
Colonel Lieu Minh Tien assessed that language skills help the armed forces effectively realize the viewpoint "each citizen is a living milestone", closely following the motto "3 sticks, 4 togethers", thereby firmly consolidating the all-people border defense posture and the people's heart posture. At the same time, the propaganda of the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State on security and order in border areas will also achieve higher efficiency.
This year's contest gathers 40 officers and soldiers from 11 border posts, divided into 4 clusters. Contestants compete in two forms: individual and collective. The individual competition requires contestants to perform two skills, speaking and writing. Meanwhile, in the collective competition, teams coordinate to answer questions directly and create propaganda skits according to the theme.
Closing the contest, the organizing committee awarded the first team prize to the Huu Nghi, Bao Lam, Thanh Loa international border gate border guard station cluster. On the individual side, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van Ngoc (Chi Lang border guard station) excellently won the first prize.
The contest also awarded many thematic prizes to honor individuals and collectives with the most beautiful Tay costumes, the best Tay language speaking, the most special art performances and the best skits.
