Bringing native teachers to teach directly at boarding schools not only improves the quality of training but also opens up comprehensive development opportunities for ethnic minority students in mountainous areas.
In recent years, Dien Bien province has proactively promoted international cooperation, searching for suitable models to improve the quality of foreign language teaching and learning. The local education sector has coordinated with Herzen National Pedagogical University (Russian Federation) to introduce the Russian language program into teaching, VNA reported.

This step shows a strong determination to integrate, not only stopping at language training but also helping students understand more deeply about culture, people and the international learning environment.
Dien Bien Provincial Ethnic Minority Boarding High School was selected as a pioneer unit. The school deploys a scale of 2 classes, including 50 10th grade students. The highlight of the program is that students learn entirely with native speakers - a very new experience in the mountainous area.
The study schedule is arranged 3 sessions per week, 3 periods each session. Maintaining this frequency ensures continuity, helping students get acquainted, practice and form natural reflexes towards a language with many differences such as Russian.
Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Huyen - Vice Principal of the school - affirmed that this is a practical action to develop the second foreign language. She said that the program is the result of concretizing the cooperation agreement between Dien Bien and Saint Petersburg city.
Students have the opportunity to access a systematic learning environment, expand their understanding and gradually form integrated thinking," Ms. Huyen emphasized.
Reality shows that Russian lessons always take place in a lively and open atmosphere. Modern teaching methods, harmoniously combining theory and practice, help students easily grasp from the alphabet, pronunciation to basic communication sentence patterns.

Luong Dang The Khoi - a 10A9 student - shared his excitement when interacting with native teachers. "The characteristic melodies of Russian evoke curiosity, creating motivation for me to strive towards greater opportunities in the future," Khoi expressed.
Sharing the same view, Lo Khanh Chi (10A2 class) believes that learning foreign languages helps her discover a new culture, thereby clearly orienting her career and wanting to pursue related majors.
Accompanying students, lecturers from Herzen National University of Education highly appreciate the educational environment here. Ms. Natalia Lisochenko is impressed with the friendliness, politeness and diligent and proactive learning spirit of students.
Meanwhile, Ms. Elizaveta Lapto clearly felt the atmosphere of solidarity and openness from both students and teachers, creating a favorable foundation for cooperation activities.
Mr. Cu Huy Hoan - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien province - stated clearly that this is a specific step to promote integration. Implementing the agreement with the city government of Saint Petersburg, the province has successfully organized the first Russian language course associated with a summer exchange camp in the Russian Federation. The second course continues to be implemented to help students experience the international environment and expand connections.
The Russian language program at Dien Bien Provincial Ethnic Minority Boarding High School really opens up a new direction. This is a solid foundation for highland students to confidently reach out to the world and seize opportunities in the era of globalization.
