On July 23, Lam Dong Provincial Police coordinated with relevant units to deploy the collection of DNA biological samples from relatives of martyrs to build a database to serve the work of identifying martyrs.

The activity is part of the "500 days and nights" campaign to search for and repatriate martyrs' remains, towards the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2027).
According to the plan, during the peak period from July 23 to 26, functional forces will collect 1,521 DNA biological samples of relatives of martyrs by maternal surname.
Sampling was deployed at 16 centralized points in the province, and at the same time, 3 mobile working groups were established to go to the homes of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, elderly relatives of martyrs, with weak health or difficulty traveling.

Present at the sample collection point, Ms. Phung Thi Hue - relative of martyr Nguyen Van Thai - expressed her wish that the construction of the DNA database will contribute to helping the family soon identify the identity of the deceased relative.
According to Lam Dong Provincial Police, each collected DNA biological sample will be added to the national database. Thereby, contributing to improving the effectiveness of identifying the names of martyrs who have not been identified, meeting the aspirations of relatives and families.
Representatives of Lam Dong Provincial Police said that the collection of DNA biological samples is not only an important political task but also shows responsibility and gratitude to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
