Out of a total of 6,011 initially registered relatives, functional forces took actual samples from 5,146 people, and at the same time added 605 cases arising during the review process.
According to the plan, on July 31, Tay Ninh province will hand over the first batch of 8,000 martyr remains samples to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology for DNA analysis. The remaining samples will continue to be reviewed and inspected before handing over in the next batch.
In addition to biological sample collection, the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains is still being deployed by forces. From the end of March to the end of June 2026, the province has repatriated 332 martyrs' remains, of which 331 remains were found on the Cambodian battlefield and 1 remains were repatriated in Tay Ninh province.
The construction of a biopsy sample database is expected to contribute to speeding up the process of comparing and identifying martyrs with unclear information, meeting the aspirations of relatives and serving gratitude work.
