Quang Ninh province's implementation of periodic health check-ups and free screening for people is receiving widespread consensus and support. The policy is assessed as rich in humanity, helping people proactively protect their health, detect diseases early and improve the quality of life, according to Quang Ninh e-Portal.
According to Plan No. 229/KH-UBND dated May 22, 2026 of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, the program is implemented in many phases. Phase 1 from May 25 to June 30, 2026 focuses on health checks for workers according to regulations on occupational safety and hygiene, with about 328,084 people expected to be examined.
Phase 2 takes place from July 1 to November 15, 2026, deploying periodic health check-ups and screening for other target groups throughout the province. Priority is given to the elderly, people with disabilities, poor households, near-poor households, people with meritorious services, people with chronic diseases, people in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, island communes, special zones... with more than 511,000 people. The program is also expanded to students, children and people of working age who have not worked in agencies and businesses.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai - Secretary of the Party Cell, Head of Hong Gai 3 neighborhood, Hong Gai ward - said that this is a major policy, showing the province's practical concern for people's lives.
According to Mr. Hai, many people are still subjective about periodic health check-ups, so free examination and screening will help people detect diseases early and treat them more effectively.
Many people expressed excitement when the program was widely implemented. Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Hang - a resident of Hong Gai ward - said that she used to only go for examination when her body was painful and tired. Being examined for free helps people detect diseases early, reduce treatment costs and raise awareness of health care for themselves and their families.
In recent years, the Quang Ninh health system has continued to be synchronously invested from the provincial level to the grassroots level. The province supports health insurance cards for 100% of people in ethnic minority areas and people in difficult circumstances. In the group of 6 priority subjects of the 2026 national health check-up program, there are people living in remote and isolated areas.
According to the plan, the province strives for 100% of people to have health check-ups at least once in 2026. The examination list includes internal medicine, surgery, eye, ear, nose and throat clinical examinations; biochemical and hematological tests; ultrasound, X-rays...
Specialist Doctor II Nguyen Ba Viet - Director of Quang Ninh Provincial General Hospital - said that the unit has fully prepared human resources, materials, equipment and mobilized from 50 - 70 doctors and nurses to serve the examination and screening work. The hospital also organizes professional training to ensure examination quality and create favorable conditions for people.
The universal health check program is expected to help detect diseases early, reduce the pressure of late-stage treatment, and at the same time raise people's awareness of proactive health care.
