After being merged from July 1, 2025, Tuyen Quang becomes the 7th largest province in the country with 13,795.50km2, and is also the northernmost border province, with a border line of 277.556km adjacent to Yunnan and Guangxi provinces (China), according to the Tuyen Quang Provincial Police Electronic Information Portal.
Accordingly, Tuyen Quang province has 17 border communes, 1 pair of international border gates, 2 pairs of national border gates and many open paths and traditional trails. Trade and family visit activities are increasingly vibrant, creating conditions for economic development but also posing many challenges for security and order.
Faced with new requirements, Tuyen Quang Provincial Police determined that building a "people's heart formation", mobilizing people to participate in protecting border security is a key task. Reality shows that in the all-people national defense and people's security formation, ethnic minorities in 17 border communes are "living milestones", contributing to protecting territorial sovereignty. The strength of the police force and border guards is only promoted when receiving the consensus and support of the people.
Closely following the area, the police force, especially the commune police, has proactively built propaganda content suitable for each village and hamlet; coordinated with Party committees, authorities and mass organizations to disseminate laws and raise awareness of complying with border regulations. With the motto "listen to the people's words, speak to the people to understand, make the people believe", the police force has gradually consolidated trust and promoted the role of the People in ensuring security and order.
Thanks to that, the 277.556km long border line with 442 national border markers is always managed and safely protected, maintained in its original state, and no sudden or unexpected situations occur. To date, 100% of villages, hamlets and households in border areas have voluntarily signed commitments to participate in self-management of border lines and markers.
Every year, people provide thousands of valuable information sources, especially the foreign security force through individual mobilization receives more than 220 information, contributing to effective combat against cross-border crimes, drugs, smuggling, illegal entry and exit, and trafficking in women; and at the same time promptly detecting incidents related to boundary markers, preventing livestock grazing and illegal cultivation in border areas.
In the context of the border security situation still having many complicated developments, Tuyen Quang Provincial Police continue to promote their core role, promote mass mobilization work, and build a solid people's heart formation.
