Phu Yen (Son La) is where the large Muong community lives, concentrated in Muong Coi, Muong Bang, Gia Phu, Tan Phong communes and Phu Yen commune. Here, traditional cultural values are still preserved through rituals, festivals and community activities, creating a cultural space imbued with identity.
In spiritual life, Mo Muong and the Moi festival play a special role. Mo Muong is associated with important rituals such as weddings, funerals, building houses, both expressing beliefs and conveying knowledge and morality.
A shaman not only needs to have family tradition but also must understand customs, maintain order and prestige in the community. For the Muong people, Mo is not simply a ritual but also a bond connecting people with their ancestors.
The Moi festival, held at the beginning of Spring, is an opportunity for the community to gather, remember ancestors, and pray for favorable harvests. The festival part is bustling with activities such as dancing, throwing con, pounding cakes, singing Dang Muong... creating an atmosphere that is both solemn and bustling.

Folk music is a clear highlight in the life of the Muong people. Gongs, drums and đuống are not only musical instruments but also a means of connecting the community. The sound of gongs echoes on important holidays, symbolizing reunion and prosperity. Meanwhile, đuống with a flexible rhythm recreates the rhythm of working life, sending aspirations for a peaceful life.

Currently, many gong and đuống troupes and folk song clubs are maintained, contributing to teaching to the younger generation. The restoration of festivals, opening classes and organizing cultural activities have created conditions for heritage to be naturally continued.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the community, Muong culture in Phu Yen is not only preserved but also continues to be present in today's life, becoming a spiritual resource and driving force for sustainable development for the locality.
