According to the latest warning, in Lam Dong province, the risk of flash floods on small streams, landslides on slopes and land subsidence may occur in localities including Bao Lam 2, Bao Thuan, Dak Song, Dam Rong 4, Di Linh, Dinh Trang Thuong, Duc Lap, Hoa Bac, Hoa Ninh, Lac Duong, Nam Ban (Lam Ha), Nam Ha (Lam Ha), B'Lao ward, Cam Ly ward - Da Lat, Lam Vien ward - Da Lat, Lang Biang ward - Da Lat, Xuan Huong ward - Da Lat, Xuan Truong ward - Da Lat and Thuan An.
In Gia Lai, the areas of Ayun, Dak Song, Hra, K'Dang, Kon Gang, Lo Pang, Mang Yang, Son Lang and Van Canh are identified as being in areas at high risk of natural disasters caused by rain and floods.
Meanwhile, Dak Lak province also recorded the risk of flash floods and landslides in Cu M'ta, Cu Pui, Duc Binh, Ea Rieng, Ea Trang, Hoa My, Krong A, Lien Son (Lak), M'Drak, Phu Mo, Son Thanh, Song Hinh, Xuan Lanh and Yang Mao localities.
The meteorological agency assessed that flash floods and landslides are a type of natural disaster that develops quickly, occurs unexpectedly and has great destructive power. Prolonged heavy rain makes soil and rocks on hillsides and taluys easily lose their connection, increasing the risk of landslides, especially in areas with steep terrain, weak soil or waterlogged for many days.
In addition, flash floods on small streams can sweep away houses, crops, damage traffic works, and affect people's lives and property.
Localities need to strengthen the review of areas at high risk of landslides and flash floods; proactively warn and prepare plans to evacuate people from dangerous areas when necessary.
