A weak cold air wave is likely to spill down to the North, causing the temperature to drop, the weather to turn cool, while the Central region enters a widespread rain spell.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on September 6-7, the weather in the North will mainly be cloudy, sunny during the day, showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and night. The highest temperature is commonly 31-34 degrees Celsius. In Hanoi, the highest temperature is 32-34 degrees Celsius, rain may appear in some places in the late afternoon and night.

The area from Thanh Hoa to Hue has showers and thunderstorms in some places; especially the South has showers and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some places. The South Central Coast also has showers and thunderstorms, especially the North has the possibility of increasing rain in the afternoon.

Central Highlands and Southern regions maintain scattered showers and thunderstorms, concentrated in the late afternoon. In thunderstorms, beware of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

From September 8th, the weather in the Central region tends to change more clearly. The area from Quang Tri to Da Nang City, the East of Quang Ngai, the Central Highlands and the South continues to have showers and thunderstorms in some places, especially in the afternoon and evening there are showers and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy rain. In the evening of September 8th, the North Central region is likely to have scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Notably, around September 9-10, the Northern region is likely to be affected by a weak cold air wave at the beginning of the season. At the same time, the Northern region will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms. Due to its weak intensity, the cold air wave has not caused cold but mainly reduced the base temperature and made the weather cooler.

It is forecasted that around September 10-11, the highest temperature in the North will be commonly 28-31 degrees Celsius. At night and in the morning, the temperature will decrease to about 21-26 degrees Celsius; especially some areas in the Northwest mountainous region may drop below 20 degrees Celsius.

In Hanoi, when cold air impacts, thunderstorms are likely to increase, the temperature drops and the weather turns cooler. This is the first cold air wave of the season, so the main impact is identified as changing the temperature, wind direction and increasing thunderstorms.

In the Central region, from September 8th to September 9th, rain tends to increase in the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue City and the South Central Coast due to the formation of a tropical convergence zone, combined with the impact of early-season cold air. From September 10th to 13th, this area is likely to experience a period of moderate rain, with heavy rain in some places accompanied by widespread thunderstorms.

From September 10-16, the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue City and the South Central Coast will have rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain, with rain concentrated in the afternoon and evening.

In the Central Highlands and Southern regions, from September 9-11, the Southwest monsoon tends to be more active, causing rain to increase. Around September 10-12, these two areas are likely to experience rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, with locally heavy to very heavy rain.

The meteorological agency warns that on the intertropical convergence zone with its axis passing through the central East Sea, there are low-pressure areas. These areas are likely to develop into tropical depressions, causing strong winds, big waves and strong thunderstorms at sea in the coming week.

During thunderstorms, people and tourists need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
