The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting updates the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (May 19) in regions across the country.
Forecast from the evening of May 18 to May 19. The Northeast region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have rain, moderate rain, scattered thunderstorms with common rainfall of 20-40mm, locally over 100mm. Many areas across the country have recorded showers and localized thunderstorms. Some places have heavy rainfall such as Cao Bo (Tuyen Quang) 72.4mm, Khe Mo Rang (Hue City) 79.6mm, Savin (Khanh Hoa) 90.2mm and Krong No (Dak Lak) up to 227mm.
The Northwest region, from Ha Tinh to Lam Dong and the South has scattered showers and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 10-30mm, locally over 80mm; rain mainly concentrated in the late afternoon and night.
From about the night of May 19 to May 21, the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An are likely to experience a wave of moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms on a large scale, with locally very heavy rain. The total rainfall is commonly from 60-120mm, with some places over 250mm. In particular, there is a risk of heavy rain intensity over 100mm in 3 hours, posing many risks of flooding and landslides.
In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, which can affect agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damage to houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
In addition, prolonged heavy rain poses a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams; landslides in hilly areas and flooding in low-lying areas.
In the next 6 hours, Da Nang City area is at risk of flash floods, landslides and subsidence in localities including: Nong Son, Ben Hien, Dak Pring, Dong Giang, Duy Xuyen, Hiep Duc, La De, Lanh Ngoc, Phu Thuan, Phuoc Tra, Que Phuoc, Que Son, Song Kon and Viet An.
