The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting updates the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (May 21) in regions across the country.
From the night of May 20 to May 22, the Northeast region, southern Lao Cai, southern Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An continue to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain in some places. On the night of May 21, rain decreased to scattered, and on May 22, localized hot sun appeared; Thanh Hoa and Nghe An are likely to experience widespread hot sun.
In the Northwest region, showers and thunderstorms continue in many places, locally with very heavy rain points. On the night of May 21, rain mainly concentrated in Lai Chau and Dien Bien, then on May 22, there is a possibility of localized hot sunshine.
The Central Highlands and Southern regions maintain sunny days, with showers and scattered thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. The Southern region has places with localized heavy rain.
Other areas in the late afternoon and night have showers and thunderstorms in some places, sunny during the day, with hot sun in some places. Notably, on May 22, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak are likely to experience widespread hot sun.
From the night of May 22 to May 30, the weather in the North tends to decrease in rain, only showers and thunderstorms appear in a few places. Lai Chau and Dien Bien will continue to have scattered showers until the end of May 23, concentrated in the late afternoon and night. From about May 23-28, the North is likely to enter a widespread hot spell.
The area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang and the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak continue to maintain widespread hot weather for many days to come.
Meanwhile, other areas across the country have showers and thunderstorms in some places. In the South, from May 23-25, there will be scattered showers in the late afternoon, after May 26, thunderstorms tend to increase again in the afternoon and evening.
People and tourists need to continue to be wary of extreme weather phenomena accompanying thunderstorms such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
