The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has updated the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (June 27) in regions across the country.
Hot weather continues to cover the Central region and part of the Central Highlands in the two days of June 27-28, many places recorded temperatures above 38 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the North has experienced moderate rain, localized heavy rain with thunderstorms, posing a risk of flash floods, landslides and flooding in low-lying areas.
On June 27, the area from Nghe An to Da Nang City and the east of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak continued to experience hot and intense heat. The highest temperature is commonly from 36-38 degrees C, in some places above 38 degrees C.
By June 28, the scope of hot sun will narrow but still be maintained in the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang City and the east of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak. The highest temperature is commonly 35-37 degrees Celsius, in some places still exceeding 38 degrees Celsius.
Forecast from about June 29-30, hot weather in the Central region and the East Central Highlands is likely to gradually decrease in intensity.
The meteorological agency warns of natural disaster risks due to heat waves at level 1. Prolonged high temperatures combined with low humidity increase the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas due to a sharp increase in electricity demand, while also posing a potential risk of forest fires. People also need to limit direct exposure to heat waves for a long time to avoid water loss, exhaustion and heat shock.
Meanwhile, on the night of June 26 and morning of June 27, the weather in many areas had opposite developments when widespread thunderstorms appeared.
In the North, it is forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 20-40 mm, many places may experience very heavy rain with rainfall over 120 mm.
Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh areas in the evening and night of June 26 have scattered showers and thunderstorms, common rainfall of 10-30 mm, locally over 50 mm.
In the Central Highlands and Southern regions, showers and thunderstorms will continue to appear in the afternoon and evening with rainfall of 10-30 mm, in some places over 60 mm.
The meteorological agency notes that during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in hilly areas and flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas. People need to proactively monitor weather developments to have preventive measures to ensure safety for people and property.
