On the afternoon of April 14, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City said that the 5th City Book Fair in 2026 with the theme "Books - Knowledge - Aspirations for national development" will open on the morning of April 15, at Tao Dan Park (Ninh Kieu ward, Can Tho City).
The event takes place until the end of April 21, within a series of activities to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South, national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026) and the 136th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026).
In parallel, the photo exhibition "Nam Ky Land" with 120 precious documentary images is also organized at the Can Tho City Museum (2 facilities), lasting until June 15, contributing to recreating the social, cultural and patriotic life of the people of Nam Ky in the early 20th century.
This year's book fair gathers more than 20 booths of publishing units, introducing new books, precious books and geographical collections. The event space also integrates digital library technology experiences, STEM education models, helping readers access modern reading methods.
In addition, many exchange activities and seminars with authors and researchers were organized, such as introducing books on Can Tho folk culture, Southern culture, and the history of the Southwest resistance war... along with speakers, journalists, and photographers.
The book fair also provides space for students with interactive programs such as "Golden Bell Ringing", digital library experience, calligraphy writing, pottery making...; and at the same time organizes the forum "Building beautiful friendships - Saying No to school violence" and launches the 2026 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest.
According to the organizers, the 5th Can Tho City Book Fair in 2026 is not only a festival for book lovers but also a specific action to implement the Project on developing reading culture in the community.
The event aims to form the habit of reading books as an intrinsic need, contributing to improving people's knowledge, fostering souls and skills for people, especially the young generation, creating a solid foundation for the digital transformation and socio-economic development of the city.
