In the first quarter of 2026, Phu Quoc International Airport served more than 2.27 million passengers, an increase of 147% compared to the same period last year. The number of take-offs and landings reached nearly 13,800 flights, an increase of 153%.
Notably, growth was recorded in both domestic and international segments. The number of international visitors reached about 1.2 million, while domestic visitors reached more than 1.07 million.
Key markets such as Korea continue to play a leading role in the international segment, while the domestic axis Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc maintains a large proportion in total traffic.
In operating conditions with high density, the airport still maintains smooth operation, without localized overload - a common problem during peak season. This shows that coordination and operational coordination capacity is ensured from the early stages of takeover.
These initial results also reflect a different approach to airport operation, when infrastructure is not seen as an independent transit point, but directly linked to the tourist flow of the destination. Phu Quoc, with its role as an accelerating tourist center, requires the airport not only to meet capacity, but also to flexibly adapt to seasonality and fluctuating demand.

Immediately after taking over the operation of the Port, Sun Group has promoted service quality with technology solutions to support passengers. The Wi-Fi system covers the entire terminal, 4G/5G signal is enhanced, flight information display screens are added and the interface is optimized, applying biometric flight procedures.
The form of non-stop automatic toll collection at the airport entrance and exit areas has also been implemented, contributing to reducing vehicle congestion during peak hours. Sanitation work is also maintained synchronously and continuously and is increasingly being upgraded.

Notably, from April 17, Phu Quoc International Airport implemented a model of checking in at the hotel to enhance passenger experience. Accordingly, passengers can complete check-in, receive boarding passes before going to the airport, checked baggage is received at the hotel and transported directly to the airport for inspection according to standard procedures.
In the initial phase, the service is applied at La Festa Phu Quoc Curio Collection by Hilton and New World Phu Quoc Resort, for Sun Phu Quoc Airways passengers. Guests staying in Sunset Town and Bai Khem areas can also use the service at these two hotels.
The model is expected to continue to be expanded, contributing to shortening procedure time at the airport, bringing a more convenient and seamless journey instead of having to be present early.
In parallel with operational activities, preparations for the next development phase are also being accelerated. The signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with Changi Airports International in March 2026 marks an important step forward in bringing the 5-star operating standards of the world's best airport for many consecutive years into Phu Quoc International Airport.
This cooperation aims to shape the destination airport model, where passenger experiences are designed seamlessly from the moment of arrival.

Along with that, the project to expand Phu Quoc International Airport with a scale of more than 1,050 ha is being accelerated by Sun Group. Currently, the rough construction of Terminal T2 is about 85% completed and entering the stage of installing steel roof structure. The VIP Terminal has also completed 100% of the rough structure, of which the roof item reached about 60%, showing that the construction progress exceeds expectations and is rapidly moving towards the completion phase.
When completed, the airport capacity is expected to reach 24 million passengers per year and may expand to 50 million passengers in the long term. This is an important foundation to meet the strong growth demand of tourism, while serving major international events such as APEC 2027.

Right at the beginning of the second quarter, Sun Group continued to sign a strategic cooperation agreement with SITA - the world's leading aviation technology corporation, to supplement "digital infrastructure" for Phu Quoc International Airport and pioneer the automatic passenger check-in (full self-service) model in Southeast Asia.
Accordingly, automation and biometric solutions will be implemented step by step, from kiosk check-in, self-storage area to automatic boarding gate. This model aims to reduce exposure, shorten waiting times, and create a more seamless journey for passengers and improve exploitation efficiency in the context of increasing traffic.
Phu Quoc International Airport is gradually being elevated in both journey and position. In the future, this place is expected to become a model airport, not only of Vietnam but also of the region.
