After a series of events during the National Day holiday, Ca Mau has more clearly recognized the requirement to turn cultural and ecological advantages into tourism products that retain tourists.

More than 210,000 visitors to Ca Mau

On the afternoon of September 4, Ca Mau province organized an assessment of the results of a series of cultural, tourism, commercial, sports and entertainment activities taking place from August 28 to September 2, 2026 with the theme "Convergence of cultural identity in the southernmost tip of the Fatherland".

Highlights of the event series are the Hot Air Balloon Festival, flower lantern programs at Hung Vuong Square and Khai Long Tourist Area, and the space to converge the quintessence of intangible cultural heritage from regions and regions.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the whole province is estimated to welcome about 210,430 visitors to visit, play, and entertain during the series of events and activities to celebrate National Day, an increase of 74.3% compared to the same period in 2025. Of which, about 3,890 international visitors were served by accommodation establishments. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 250 billion VND, an increase of 98.4%.

The media effect is also very large with nearly 500 news and articles in newspapers; more than 50 KOLs participating in propaganda, creating more than 300 videos, reviews and 150 livestreams, attracting more than 1.5 million views and shares on digital platforms.

Do not let tourism only be crowded when there are festivals

From the above results, the issue raised by Ca Mau is how to maintain attraction when the event has ended.

At the seminar on tourism development orientations, delegates frankly pointed out limitations such as products being monotonous, lack of nighttime activities, low rate of overnight visitors, limited infrastructure and human resources, and difficulties in mechanisms and resource exploitation.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh - Director of Ca Mau Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - said that the important thing after an event is not how the event ends, but what to do to continue to promote the values, products and effects created.

The tourism industry determines to continue to commercialize the products that have been introduced, especially "Green Cape Land Day - Legendary U Minh Night"; increase tour and route links with Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta; and effectively exploit communication resources from the event.

Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai noted that after the success of the Festival, Ca Mau tourism must avoid the situation where tourists only find places to play and entertain when there are events. According to him, it is necessary to regularly maintain festival, cultural, and tourism activities to retain tourists and create motivation for industry development.

From a business perspective, Mr. Nguyen Van Hon - Hoang Hon Tourist Area, Dat Mui - said that Ca Mau has become more known after recent activities. However, for tourists to return, smooth coordination between sectors, localities and destinations is needed.

Destinations, no matter how beautiful, attractive, or promoted, but with difficult roads, high prices, and lack of friendliness, it is difficult to attract tourists to come later" - Mr. Hon pointed out the reality.

From the identified results and limitations, Ca Mau is aiming to transform values of forests, seas, islands, Dat Mui, culture, history, cuisine and community life into in-depth products and experiences, thereby extending stay time and increasing tourist spending.
