On May 25, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thien - Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 1st Dong Thap Fruit Festival in 2026 - chaired a meeting to review the progress of preparation for the event.
According to the Organizing Committee, the 1st Dong Thap Fruit Festival in 2026 with the theme "Dong Thap - Sweet Fruit Land" will take place from June 5 to 8, 2026 at Hung Vuong Square. This is a key event to honor the value of the local fruit industry, promote the image of agricultural tourism and the typical garden culture of the land of Pink Lotus.
At the meeting, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee requested departments and branches to urgently deploy tasks according to the plan; and at the same time promote communication work, ensuring synchronous organization from main activities to a series of response events.
This year's festival must clearly show the modern development orientation of the local fruit industry," Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thien emphasized.
Accordingly, the festival will focus on introducing new solutions and development trends such as: digital agriculture applications, traceability of agricultural products, advanced production models, promoting green consumption and cashless payments.
In addition, the work of ensuring security and order, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting, food safety and hygiene and environmental sanitation is also required to be tightened throughout the festival.
The festival needs to contribute to clearly positioning the image of agricultural tourism, rural tourism and typical garden culture of the Red Lotus land," Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thien affirmed. According to the plan, the festival will have 21 attractive activities, including 9 main activities and 12 response and companion activities. Prominent are the large-scale opening ceremony; exhibition space for Dong Thap tourism products; fair, exhibition, trade promotion of fruits and OCOP products in the Mekong Delta region; seminar "Farmers 4.0 and organized raw material areas"; conference on developing key fruit industry chains of the province.
The artistic highlight of the festival is the water music program combined with lighting and mapping projection with the theme "Returning to listen to the river tell stories", which is expected to become the focus of attracting tourists during the performances.
In addition, the festival also has a series of unique experiential activities such as: photo exhibition "Beauty of the river region"; fruit shaping contest "Dong Thap - Sweet alluvial taste, rich in soil love"; culinary contest "Huong vi Dat Sen hong"; final night of the "Duyen dang miet vuon" contest.
At the same time, Dong Thap also implements a consumer stimulus program through the week of specialty fruits at modern distribution systems and many e-commerce platforms nationwide.
With a series of rich, practical and unique activities, the 1st Dong Thap Fruit Festival is expected to contribute to promoting tourism, attracting about 500,000 visitors to experience, and creating new momentum for the Dat Sen Hong fruit industry to develop strongly in the coming time.
