On the evening of June 8, at Hung Vuong Square (Dao Thanh ward), Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee organized the Closing Ceremony of the 1st Dong Thap Fruit Festival in 2026 with the theme "Dong Thap - Sweet Fruit Region", closing 4 days of exciting activities with many cultural, tourism, trade promotion and fruit industry connection activities.

The closing ceremony took place in a solemn and exciting atmosphere with art performances imbued with the cultural identity of the Mekong Delta region. Through the summary report presented at the stage, delegates and tourists looked back at the outstanding imprints of the festival, from the agricultural product display space, trade promotion activities, tourism promotion to the image of gardeners dedicated to the fruit tree growing profession.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thien - Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee - said that after 4 days of organization, the festival attracted about 500,000 visitors to visit, experience and shop, achieving the set goals. The fair and exhibition gathered nearly 120 booths of businesses, cooperatives and production and business establishments inside and outside the province. Through trade connection activities, trade promotion and product promotion, many cooperative links have been established, contributing to expanding the agricultural product consumption market; total revenue in the fair area is estimated at about 4.5 billion VND.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thien, during the festival days, Dong Thap truly becomes a rendezvous for those who love agriculture, love fruits and love the unique cultural values of the Southern land. The festival space not only honors the labor achievements of farmers but is also a place to meet and connect subjects in the fruit industry value chain, promoting links between farmers, scientists, businesses, credit systems and logistics.

Leaders of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the festival is not only an event to promote specialty fruits but also an important starting point in the strategy of developing the fruit industry towards modernity, ecology and sustainability.
After the festival, the province will focus on reorganizing production in the direction of large scale; building concentrated raw material areas associated with market demand; promoting the application of science and technology, digital transformation and innovation; improving preservation and deep processing capacity, while strengthening links between farmers, cooperatives and businesses to improve added value and competitiveness of the fruit industry.

Besides the positive results, the Organizing Committee also frankly acknowledged that there are still some limitations when a small number of tourists have not done well in preserving the landscape, aesthetics and cultural behavior in some areas of the festival. Dong Thap province will continue to strengthen management, propaganda to raise community awareness, and build a friendly and civilized image of tourists in the following festivals.
From the results achieved in the first festival, Dong Thap will continue to improve the organization model, improve professionalism, towards building the Dong Thap Fruit Festival into a periodic event of the Mekong Delta region, a forum to connect production, processing, consumption of agricultural products, trade promotion and tourism promotion. The Organizing Committee also plans to organize the 2nd Dong Thap Fruit Festival in 2028 with a larger scale and more unique activities.
