Typhoon Jongdari (local name in the Philippines is Dindo) is continuing to move north after leaving the Philippine forecast area on the morning of August 19.
This is the 9th storm in this year's storm season in the Western Pacific region, and is expected to affect many countries in the region.
According to the latest news from ABS-CBN News, the rain bands of Typhoon Jongdari are expected to affect the Batanes and Babuyan Islands of the Philippines.
However, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated that the storm is unlikely to have a direct impact on the country's weather during the current forecast period.
Typhoon Jongdari is predicted to move across the East China Sea toward the Korean peninsula or China's east coast. Currently, the storm is located in the sea east of Taiwan (China) and south of Okinawa, Japan.
According to the Korea Meteorological Agency (KMA), Typhoon Jongdari is expected to cause heavy rain and thunderstorms on the Korean peninsula until August 20. The storm may dissipate in the early morning of August 21, about 60km from Seosan, South Chungcheong. The maximum sustained wind is 68 km/h and the wind radius is 240 km.
Other areas of Korea such as Gyeonggi, Gangwon and Jeju Island are also expected to have showers, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
In addition to Typhoon Jongdari, a tropical depression (named Invest 99W) is being identified about 1,030km from Northern Luzon, Philippines. However, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) of the US Air Force and Navy, this depression is unlikely to strengthen into a storm in the next 24 hours.
If you are planning to travel to areas affected by Typhoon Jongdari, especially South Korea and China's eastern coastal regions, closely monitor weather reports and follow instructions. from local authorities.
Consider adjusting your travel schedule if necessary, especially outdoor activities or beach trips.
Note that traffic disruptions may occur due to heavy rain or strong winds, so check flight or public transport information before departing.
Travelers to the Philippines should still exercise caution when visiting coastal areas, especially the Batanes and Babuyan Islands, although the storm did not directly affect the country.
However, Cambodia's Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology predicts that storm Jongdari may weaken into a low pressure when combined with the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea. The influence of this low pressure area affects the weather in the Gulf of Thailand, the central Mekong basin, the East Sea and Cambodia from August 20 to 22.
By monitoring weather conditions and following safety guidelines, travelers can ensure a safe and enjoyable trip during the 2024 hurricane season.
