According to the latest storm information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 p.m. on September 5, the center of the super typhoon was located at about 19.3 degrees North latitude; 114.3 degrees East longitude, in the northern sea area of the North East Sea, about 380km east of Hainan Island (China). The strongest wind near the center of the super typhoon is level 16 (184-201km/h), gusting to level 17, moving westward at a speed of about 15km/h.
Forecast by 7pm on September 6, storm No. 3 Yagi is about 400km East Southeast of Quang Ninh, maintaining level 16, gusting above level 17. Disaster risk level at Level 4: North of the North East Sea area.
At 7:00 a.m. on September 7, the storm's center was forecast to be at about 20.9 degrees North latitude; 108.7 degrees East longitude; in the northern waters of the Gulf of Tonkin, about 140km East Southeast of Quang Ninh.
The intensity remains at level 13-14, gusting to level 17. The disaster risk level is Level 4 for the Northwest of the North East Sea area and the East of the North Gulf of Tonkin; and Level 3 for the West of the North Gulf of Tonkin and the South Gulf of Tonkin.
Due to the very strong intensity of storm No. 3, the high risk of natural disasters, and complicated developments, airports in the North and North Central regions will temporarily stop receiving and operating aircraft on September 7.
Specifically, Van Don International Airport (Quang Ninh) will stop operating from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on September 7, 2024. Cat Bi International Airport (Hai Phong) will temporarily stop operating from 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on September 7, 2024.
Noi Bai International Airport will be closed from 10:00 to 19:00 on September 7, 2024. Tho Xuan Airport (Thanh Hoa) will be temporarily closed from 12:00 to 22:00 on September 7, 2024.
Domestic and international airlines also plan to change the schedules of flights to/from the above four airports on September 7. Passengers are advised to follow weather reports and official announcements from the airlines.
