On April 14, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy had a working session with the Department of Culture of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups and related units on the preparation of activities within the framework of Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day April 19, 2026.
Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day (April 19) 2026 has the participation of about more than 300 artisans, village elders, village heads, prestigious people, ethnic minorities of 54 provinces and cities: mobilizing about 125 ethnic minorities including 40 Kinh, Hoa, Khmer ethnic minorities (Vinh Long province); 25 Chu Ru ethnic minorities (Lam Dong province); 30 Thai ethnic minorities (Thanh Hoa province); 30 Tay ethnic minorities (Quang Ninh province); more than 100 artisans, ethnic minorities from 16 ethnic groups, 11 localities are operating daily at the Village of Culture - Tourism of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups.

Reporting at the working session, Director of the Department of Culture of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups Trinh Ngoc Chung said that the Department of Culture of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups has proactively and synchronously implemented tasks, ensuring the progress and quality of organizing the 2026 Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day.
Some key activities in the Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day (April 19) 2026 include the National Conference to deploy ethnic culture work and commend village elders, village chiefs, artisans, and prestigious people; Reporting achievements, visiting President Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum and meeting with Party and State leaders; Community exchanges of ethnic groups to celebrate Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day...
Within the framework of the program, there are also performance activities introducing the heritage and culture of localities such as: Festival of cultural exchange of ethnic groups in Vinh Long province; Colors of Chu Ru ethnic culture in Lam Dong province; Colors of Thai ethnic culture in Thanh Hoa province; Colors of Tay ethnic culture in Quang Ninh province;... Along with that are daily activities of people in the Village.
Speaking at the working session, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy emphasized that the activities are organized to celebrate Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day (April 19); commemorating the 80th anniversary of Uncle Ho's letter to the Congress of Southern ethnic minorities (April 19, 1946 - April 19, 2026) and the 18th anniversary of the implementation of Decision No. 1668/QD-TTg dated November 17, 2008 of the Prime Minister on taking April 19 every year as Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day; and at the same time implementing Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo on cultural development of Vietnam.
In addition, affirming the Party and State's concern for ethnic culture work; promoting the role of artisans and ethnic minorities in preserving, maintaining and promoting traditional cultural values; raising the sense of responsibility of people and cultural subjects to contribute to building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
At the same time, introduce and promote the unique cultural values of the locality through heritage performance activities, traditional rituals to promote the preservation of intangible culture and tourism development.
Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy requested that units urgently review the entire content of work, closely follow the set plan. The activities of Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Days need to be organized solemnly, effectively, safely, economically, and at the same time create a joyful, exciting, and united atmosphere. In particular, promote the role of cultural subjects at the "Common House", ensuring the element of preserving and honoring national traditional values.
