In the context that many famous resort destinations in the world record slower growth, Phu Quoc - the island honored by CN Traveler as the 3rd most beautiful in the world - has made a breakthrough with more than 6.8 million visitors in the first 7 months of 2026, an increase of 30.36% compared to the same period.
Phu Quoc tourism breakthrough
Phu Quoc Special Zone continues to record impressive tourism growth momentum in 2026 when it is estimated to welcome more than 6.8 million visitors in the first 7 months of the year, an increase of 30.36% compared to the same period last year. In which, the number of international visitors reached more than 1.5 million, an increase of 53.49%, and total revenue from tourism is estimated at 36,447 billion VND.
According to the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People's Committee, the above results are equivalent to nearly 69% of the full-year plan after just over half the journey, showing that Pearl Island is maintaining its recovery and growth rate among the highest in Vietnam.

Accordingly, Phu Quoc continues to maintain a two-digit growth momentum in both domestic and international visitors. In particular, the number of international visitors to Phu Quoc increased by more than 53%, reflecting the increasing attraction of Pearl Island on the global tourism map.
From a destination mainly serving domestic tourists, Pearl Island is gradually becoming an international-level resort and entertainment center with the number of international visitors increasing steadily year by year, markets increasingly diverse from Korea, Taiwan (China), India, China, Russia and many European countries.
Tourism growth is also clearly reflected in the operation of Phu Quoc International Airport. In the first 7 months of the year, the airport served more than 4.48 million passengers, an increase of nearly 38% compared to the same period last year - the highest output in operation history. At the same time, the number of take-offs and landings reached nearly 27,920 flights, an increase of nearly 44%, showing that the demand for air travel to Pearl Island continues to be the choice of many tourists.
Notably, Phu Quoc International Airport is still simultaneously implementing a scale expansion project to serve APEC 2027 and the long-term development strategy. Runway No. 2, 300m long, has been completed and is ready for the standard flight phase. This is considered an important premise to increase the airport's operating capacity to a completely new scale, meeting the strong increase in the number of passengers in the coming years.
What makes Phu Quoc attractive to tourists?
In 2026, Phu Quoc is continuously honored by prestigious international tourism organizations and magazines. In parallel with the international media effect is the strong change of tourism products. Instead of only being famous for its beautiful sea and resorts, Phu Quoc is gradually positioning itself as a destination that can bring diverse experiences from morning to night.
In particular, the South Island area becomes the focal point attracting tourists with a large-scale ecosystem of tourism - resort - entertainment. Tourists can experience the world's longest 3-wire cable car to Hon Thom, explore the water park with the first generation of water slides in the world or enjoy a series of international-class shows such as: "Kiss of the Sea", "Symphony of the Sea" and 2 art fireworks displays taking place every night at Hoang Hon Town.

Not only extending the length of stay, this ecosystem also contributes to changing the spending structure of tourists when combining resorts, entertainment, cuisine, shopping and nightlife activities on the same journey.
With high visitor growth, continuously expanding aviation infrastructure, an extended chain of international awards and an increasingly complete experience ecosystem, Phu Quoc is showing its transformation from a famous resort to a comprehensive destination in the region.
The growth momentum in the first 7 months of the year not only reflects the current attractiveness of Pearl Island but also creates a foundation for Phu Quoc to move closer to its goal of becoming an international-class tourism and resort center in the coming years.
