On the afternoon of July 7, the Hue Museum of Fine Arts (Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City) opened the exhibition and performance program "Knowledge of tailoring and wearing Hue Ao Dai" at Diem Phung Thi Art Space (17 Le Loi, Thuan Hoa ward), within the framework of Hue Ao Dai Week 2026.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh - Deputy Director in charge of Hue Museum of Fine Arts said that the recognition of "Hue Ao Dai Sewing and Wearing Knowledge" as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage not only affirms the value of Ao Dai in contemporary life but also creates motivation for Hue to continue building the brand "Hue - Vietnamese Ao Dai Capital".
According to Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Hue Ao Dai Week 2026 includes many activities to honor heritage, promote culture and attract tourists. In which, this exhibition and performance gathers artisans, designers, artists, actors and students, contributing to introducing the beauty of Hue Ao Dai as well as spreading traditional cultural values.
Ao dai is associated with the history of formation and development of the ancient capital, considered a cultural symbol of Hue. From the costume reform under Vo Vuong Nguyen Phuc Khoat to now, ao dai has been constantly preserved, inherited and created, becoming a familiar image in festivals, diplomatic activities and promoting Vietnamese culture.
The exhibition introduces many unique collections such as "Thanh Sac Kinh Ky" with Nhat Binh and Ngu Than ao dai; "Sac Tim Mien Huong Ngu"; a collection of children's ao dai inspired by Diem Phung Thi art, Dong weaving and recycled materials; along with "Vuong Gia Chi Hoa" with contemporary designs inspired by Ngo Dong flowers and phoenix motifs of Hue Citadel. The collections contribute to honoring heritage values, while promoting Hue's image as a center for preserving and promoting Vietnamese ao dai culture.
