At the 1st Congress of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, Mr. Duong Hoang Sum - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - presented a speech on the tasks and breakthrough solutions to develop tourism into an important economic sector, contributing to sustainable growth.
The Vinh Long tourism industry aims to develop typical products such as river garden tourism, community tourism, sea tourism combined with wind power sightseeing, eco-tourism, homestay and cultural products, festivals.
Forming a network connecting with Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta provinces to increase the average length of stay and spending of tourists.
The Culture, Sports and Tourism sector has coordinated to call for investment, restructure tourism products, upgrade infrastructure of tourist areas and destinations, and at the same time implement key projects such as the Mekong Delta Agricultural Museum, Con Giong eco-tourism area, Mang Thit brick and pottery kiln area, Ba Dong sea tourism project.
The total invited capital reached thousands of billions of VND, along with public investment of more than 500 billion VND for 28 tourism projects.
Vinh Long also develops tourism based on multi-ethnic culture, revolutionary history, and more than 70 traditional craft villages. The province currently has 356 accommodation establishments, 25 typical tourist attractions, 13 provincial-level tourist areas and attractions, many homestays and community tourism attractions that have won ASEAN awards.
To strive for tourism to contribute 6-7% of the province's GRDP by 2030, the tourism industry will continue to improve infrastructure, diversify products, improve the quality of human resources, and apply smart technology in tourism promotion, management and development.
Mr. Sum affirmed that tourism development is an important task, requiring the coordination of the entire political system to complete the goal of making Vinh Long tourism a spearhead economic sector, contributing to promoting sustainable growth of the province.
