Single father in Nghe An goes on dating show to find girlfriend after 22 years of losing contact with wife

For many years not knowing where his wife is, Mr. Dam Van Quyet, currently working in Malaysia, decided to participate in a dating program to find a new girlfriend.

Appearing on the program "Online Lunch Dinner - Connecting Love", Mr. Dam Van Quyet (born in 1977, from Nghe An) attracted attention when sharing his special marriage and the journey of more than 20 years of losing contact with his wife.

Currently, Mr. Quyet lives and works in Malaysia. He contracts and constructs construction projects and has worked here for about 14 years.

According to his sharing, he used to live in Ho Chi Minh City from 1996. Here, he met a woman from Can Tho and got married on April 30, 2003. At the end of that year, the two welcomed their first child.

At the time of their marriage, the couple's life faced many economic difficulties. Mr. Quyet's mother initially did not want her son to marry a wife far away. However, when she learned that her son's girlfriend was pregnant, the family went to Can Tho to hold a wedding.

After giving birth, the couple took their child back to Nghe An to ask the paternal grandmother to take care of him. Different regions, lifestyles and disagreements in the family made the common life unfavorable.

Not finding a suitable job in her husband's hometown, in 2004, Mr. Quyet's wife went to Malaysia to work.

The incident happened when Mr. Quyet heard an acquaintance say that his wife had a relationship with someone else in Malaysia.

At that time, he was still young and hot-tempered, he believed in what he heard even without evidence. In a phone call, he announced the termination of the relationship, even saying that if his wife came back to visit the children later, he would not be allowed to enter the house.

After the argument, he angrily threw the phone. The two lost contact from then on.

Looking back more than 20 years later, the man from Nghe An admitted that he was at fault. He said that when there was no evidence, hastily believing in others and making a decision in anger pushed the marriage to an unfortunate end.

I just realized that the fault was mine. If you are jealous, there must be reality, there must be evidence," Mr. Quyet shared.

Later, he found the Facebook of his wife's relatives and asked about her. However, his wife's family did not reveal where she was, whether she had a new family or what her current life was like.

According to Mr. Quyet, the two have lost contact for about 22 years.

Their child, born in 2003, is now grown up, married and has children. When his child's life stabilized, Mr. Quyet began to think more about finding a companion.

At nearly 50 years old, he said he does not put much emphasis on the appearance or economic conditions of the woman he is looking for. People in difficult circumstances who have had children are not an obstacle either.

What he values most is loyalty. He hopes to find someone born in 1985 or later, willing to build a long life with him.

If he finds a suitable person, he hopes the other person will move to Malaysia to live. He currently has legal papers here, stable jobs and wants the two of them to work together. According to him, his partner does not necessarily have to go out to work if they do not want to.

Another issue is that on paper, Mr. Quyet and his ex-wife have not yet completed divorce procedures. He said that he has learned about the procedures for resolving unilateral divorce and plans to return to Vietnam to definitively handle legal issues.

He affirmed that if he meets a suitable person, and the two families agree, completing the old procedures and registering a new marriage is mandatory.

After many years of focusing on working, raising children and living far from home, the man from Nghe An said his current wish is quite simple: find someone who can go the rest of the way with him.

He registered to participate in the program about two years ago and hopes this appearance will help him meet the right person.
