Fournier's gangrene is a potentially fatal viral infection that affects the perineum and other parts of the body.

Diabetes is believed to be one of the factors leading to Fournier syndrome. The hospital had to perform surgery to save the patient's life.

Overcoming life and death, the 45-year-old director decided to change his life and pay more attention to his health.

"When the doctor told me I could lose my life, I was shocked. I decided to do what was within my control. I had neglected my health for years, developing unhealthy eating habits. So now I had to do something for myself," said Mr. Bhandary.

Since then, Bhandary has started to renew his life and take care of his health through physical activities. In the past 4 years, Bhandary has been running regularly every day, participating in 4 full marathons and 85 half marathons.

"Running has become an important part of my life. I realized that running is something I enjoy. Deep down, I always wanted to be healthy and become a long-distance runner. And my dream has now come true," Dhiraj Bhandary shared.

In addition to running, the 45-year-old man also regularly cycles. In his first long journey, Dhiraj Bhandary completed a distance of 100km.

Fournier's gangrene is a type of genital infection that causes necrosis of the genital area and surrounding areas. Gangrene is a condition in which tissue in the human body dies due to lack of blood supply, infection, and a type of fascial necrosis.

In severe cases, the infection can spread to other areas such as the thighs, stomach, chest, destroying muscles, arteries, and nerves. This is a rare disease, with a mortality rate of 3 - 50%, more common in men than women, especially people between the ages of 50 - 60.
