The two main characters of this week's program are Ms. Thu Kieu and Mr. Dinh Phuong.
Mr. Dinh Phuong works as a chef in Ho Chi Minh City. One time when he returned to his hometown, he accidentally met Ms. Thu Kieu, who was in 11th grade at that time.
He found Thu Kieu cute so he decided to pursue her. Their relationship started with a long-distance relationship, because Thu Kieu was studying in Binh Thuan, while Dinh Phuong was still working in Ho Chi Minh City.
After a while, the two decided to get married and move to Ho Chi Minh City to live together.
MC Dinh Toan asked Thu Kieu: "Have you ever felt regretful about your most beautiful youth?". Thu Kieu shared: "I do regret it later, but at that time I didn't feel any regret at all."
Married life was not rosy and more complicated than both of them expected. Ms. Kieu recounted: “The family was only happy for the first year. When I started having children, I stayed home to take care of the children, my husband went to work outside, and there were social conflicts.
Mr. Phuong works in a restaurant, has feelings and texts with his colleagues. I see him acting strangely, often secretly hiding his phone, and checking his messages every night.
The relationship lasted for 5-6 months before being discovered. He honestly confessed and apologized to his wife. With sincerity and tolerance, she chose to forgive her husband. Both of them went through many difficulties to overcome the crisis.
After the couple told their story, MC Dinh Toan emphasized: "I repeat, not to rekindle a sad family story, but to see how we have overcome the hardships in life."
In difficult moments of marriage, forgiveness is not always easy. When MC Dinh Toan asked: "At that time, when Mr. Phuong begged, did Ms. Kieu forgive him immediately?"
Ms. Thu Kieu said that she did not forgive immediately, there were fierce arguments and forgetting the hurt was impossible. However, because she wanted to preserve family happiness, she decided to forgive: "I have to practice holding back, to preserve my family's happiness. I forgive."
Regarding the process of mending the relationship, Mr. Dinh Phuong shared that he not only relied on his own efforts but also had to rely on the support of his friends and sister to convince Ms. Thu Kieu to forgive him.
Ms. Kieu shared that her decision to forgive was partly due to her parents' advice, partly because of her love for her husband and the desire to preserve family happiness, especially for the children.
Mr. Dinh Phuong mentioned a difficult period when his family faced a debt of 300 million VND after 4 years of marriage. Mr. Phuong shared: “After 4 years of marriage, my business failed and I was in debt of 300 million VND. It was very difficult at that time, with three children.”
During the most difficult period, Mr. Phuong had to quit his job as a chef to help his wife. Ms. Kieu sold banh bot loc twice a day, returning home at 7 pm, while Mr. Phuong stayed home to take care of the children and make banh bot loc for his wife to sell.
After a period of hard work, both husband and wife paid off all their debts. Mr. Phuong shared: “At that time, we got up, paid off the bank debt of 300 million VND, kept 200 million VND to buy a piece of land, gradually saved up and bought more, now we have 4 pieces of land”.
Thanks to Thu Kieu's sacrifice and extraordinary determination, the family overcame difficulties and stood firm.
