In 2026, the Thanh Minh period starts from April 5th and lasts until the end of April 20th of the solar calendar. In which, the opening day of this period, i.e. Thanh Minh Tet, falls on Sunday (April 5th of the solar calendar), corresponding to February 18th of the lunar calendar.
This is an important time for each family to perform the tomb sweeping ritual, commemorating ancestors, and at the same time preserving the traditional beauty towards the origin.
According to folk beliefs, choosing a suitable day and hour when worshiping Thanh minh is of great significance, expressing respect and wishing for smooth progress.
According to feng shui expert Nguyen Song Ha, April 5 of the solar calendar (ie February 18 of the lunar calendar) is considered a zodiac day, favorable for performing rituals.
On this day, some hours are considered good for offering incense, including Dinh Mao hour (5am-7am), Ky Ty hour (9am-11am), Tan Mui hour (1pm-3pm) and Quy Dau hour (5pm-7pm). These are time slots considered suitable for performing rituals and tomb sweeping.
In case it is not possible to proceed on the first day of the Thanh minh festival, people can still choose other good days during the festival period to perform the ritual.
Accordingly, February 21st of the lunar calendar (ie April 8th of the solar calendar) has favorable hours such as 5am-7am, 9am-11am and 3pm-5pm.
24th day of the 2nd lunar month (ie 11th day of the 4th lunar month) is suitable for the hours from 5am-7am, 7am-9am and 1pm-3pm.
On the 25th of the 2nd lunar month (ie the 12th of the 4th lunar month), you can choose between 7am-9am, 9am-11am, 3pm-5pm or 5pm-7pm.
February 26th of the lunar calendar (ie April 13th of the solar calendar) is suitable for the hours 7am-9am, 1pm-3pm and 3pm-5pm.
On February 28th of the lunar calendar (ie April 15th of the solar calendar), offerings can be performed at 7am-9am, 9am-11am or 3pm-5pm.
Choosing the right time not only brings spiritual elements but also helps families proactively arrange time, ensuring that the tomb sweeping and worshiping ceremony takes place thoughtfully and completely.
